The Area

Sarasota is a sophisticated yet laid back city that combines commerce and culture, It has its own airport, and is only 1 hour from Tampa ( Busch Gardens ) and 2 hours from Orlando, Disney World etc.
Siesta Key is a small island 6 miles long and 1 mile wide at the northern end, tapering to only 100 yards (300 feet) at Turtle Beach on the southern end.

Restaurants – these range from inexpensive to elegant dining with 30 on Siesta Key alone. Try the “sirloin strip” on US 41 just over the bridge or one of the hundreds of restaurants of many ethnic varieties within the city. There are three varied restaurants within a easy short walk around the lagoon, where often Manatee are seen playing.

Entertainment – there is something to suit all tastes – comedy, theatre, jazz, ballet, disco, rock, opera, country – see local free papers for detailed information. There are large concert halls and a surprising number of theatres within Sarasota.

Wonderful Shopping – ladies a chance to find something different. Sarasota has a wonderful selection of stores and malls, try the two Westfield Malls or try the elegant shops around St Armand’s circle, or visit the new UTC mall on University Parkway.

Siesta Key has lots of small souvenir shops and some lovely boutique’s such as The Green Turtle and Foxy Lady

Like Golf? Try Bobcat trail, Serenoa, Mistycreeek & Waterlefe…

Lots of supermarkets in the area, locally on Siesta Key or Publix just over the bridge

Right on your doorstep, on the beach, in the lagoon, and the golf courses. Pelicans, egrets and herons, turtles, manatee and dolphins – are all seen regularly. Loggerhead turtles lay their eggs on our beach in the spring.

If you are lucky you might catch sight of a turtle laying her eggs or the baby turtles trying to reach the water. Locally there are numerous wildlife and nature parks and preserves.

In the county we have also seen owl, alligator, dolphin, armadillo, manatee, deer, possum, racoon, osprey, eagles and hummingbirds.

Beach Walking – As well as collecting some wonderful shells as souvenirs, you will see different varieties of birds, you might see the local Osprey pluck his dinner from the Gulf, the pelican who seem to fly almost on the water. Manatee can be seen swimming and playing in the gulf, large rays can be seen jumping far out at sea and everybody’s favourites dolphins, just keep your eyes open.

If the ladies decide to shell on there own – relax gentlemen, concentrate on your fishing or that good book we’re comfortable the ladies are safe walking on their own.

Water Sports – Enjoy kayaking, Jet skiing, Scuba diving, Snorkelling, Swimming, Water skiing, Paragliding, Paddle boarding and boating, most items can be hired locally and don’t forget we have Free boat docking.

Fishing – it’s all around, off the beach, in the lagoon from the boat docks, or go for the “big one” out in the Gulf of Mexico.
Rod and reels can be bought locally for about $30. Go to Sarasota Marina to Charter a fishing trip out in the Gulf.

Golf – you could be spoilt for choice with ~ 50 courses in Sarasota County with at least 90 courses within a 45 minute drive. Standards vary from club to Championship level. Try Misty Creek, Bobcat Trail, Waterleaf, Serenoa.

Not bad on a $28 rod and reel….

Boats can be hired nearby and moored (free) in our own private boat docks.
